We Did It! The BID Has Been Renewed

We’re thrilled to announce the successful renewal of the West Adams Business Improvement District! On June 25, 2025, the City tabulated ballots after the public hearing, and an overwhelming 95% of property owners who submitted ballots voted in favor of renewal.

Thanks to this incredible support, the BID will begin 2026 with a fresh 10-year contract and an annual assessment budget of $267,606.78. This renewal is a shared commitment to investing in clean streets, thriving small businesses, vibrant public spaces, and a strong community voice. We’re so proud to continue serving the West Adams corridor and look forward to everything we can accomplish together in the next decade.

Why BID Renewal Matters

Every five or ten years, Business Improvement Districts across Los Angeles must undergo a formal renewal process. It’s a rigorous, transparent, and community-driven effort that gives stakeholders a say in whether BID operations should continue. Without renewal, essential services provided by the BID, including sidewalk cleanups, trash removal, public safety support, small business advocacy, and beautification efforts, would come to a halt.

Since launching in 2021, the West Adams BID has:

  • Removed over 15,000 pounds of trash each month

  • Trimmed 75+ trees, improving safety and visibility

  • Launched a corridor-wide lighting project to increase pedestrian safety

  • Hosted business mixers and public meetings to strengthen our commercial network

  • Responded quickly to neighborhood concerns, like vandalism, illegal dumping, and overgrown weeds

  • Built strong partnerships with Councilwoman Heather Hutt's office, LAPD, LADOT, and other City departments

This renewal allows us to build on that momentum.

The Road to Renewal

The renewal process began with months of groundwork. The BID worked closely with our expert consultants, Ed Henning & Associates and Duckworth Consulting, along with the Los Angeles City Clerk’s Office, to ensure we met all legal requirements and effectively communicated with our stakeholders.

In March, we entered the petition phase. By April, we had exceeded the 50% petition threshold required to move forward. On April 29, Los Angeles City Council adopted the Management District Plan, Engineer’s Report, and the Ordinance of Intention to renew the BID.

Ballots were mailed in May, and in June, the community delivered a decisive message: Yes to continued investment in West Adams.

Looking Ahead

With the renewal secured, we’re already pushing forward on exciting new projects:

  • Finalizing the West Adams Boulevard Lighting Project

  • Increasing maintenance services and exploring power-washing and cleanups

  • Advocating for public safety, beautification, and infrastructure improvements

  • Deepening support for small businesses and local arts initiatives

  • Creating new ways for the community to engage and participate

BID board meetings are always open to the public, and we encourage you to attend, share your ideas, and help guide the work ahead. Let’s keep building a West Adams we can all be proud of.

Thank You

A successful renewal like this is only possible through collaboration. We extend our deepest thanks to:

  • Our consultants, Ed Henning and Duckworth Consulting, for their expertise and steady guidance

  • Councilwoman Heather Hutt’s Office, for championing the BID’s work and future

  • The incredible team at the Los Angeles City Clerk’s Office, who helped guide us through the renewal process

  • And most importantly, to the property owners and community members who showed up, signed petitions, submitted ballots, and voiced their support

Together, we’ve ensured that the West Adams BID can continue shaping a cleaner, safer, more vibrant corridor through 2036.
