A Brighter Future for West Adams
A well-lit street is more than just a convenience. It can be a foundation for safety, economic vibrancy, and neighborhood pride. That’s why the West Adams Business Improvement District is working hard to bring beautiful, energy-efficient lighting to our commercial corridor.
We’re proud to share that the West Adams BID Holiday Bistro Lighting Project is well underway, thanks to months of planning, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration. Our goal? To install warm-white LED bistro lights along both sides of West Adams Boulevard, stretching from La Brea Avenue to Hauser Boulevard. These elegant string lights will help illuminate our sidewalks, improve visibility, and foster a safer and more inviting environment for all who live, work, shop, and visit here.
Lighting is one of the most powerful yet understated tools for neighborhood revitalization. In addition to improving nighttime safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and local employees, well-designed corridor lighting enhances the visual character of a place. It makes our streets more welcoming and more reflective of the vibrant identity of West Adams.
This project has been in the works for many months. We first spoke to a number of companies to understand what is needed to create a comprehensive RFP and budget. We then developed and publicly released a detailed RFP to attract qualified contractors with experience in decorative, commercial-grade lighting installations. We were thrilled to receive strong submissions, and after careful review, the BID board will be meeting with the top candidate, LA Christmas Lights Installers, at our next board meeting on Sunday, July 14. Community members are welcome to attend, ask questions, and learn more about what’s ahead.
While we’re making progress, there’s still more to do. The next phase involves Navigating City permitting requirements and coordinating with utility providers and adjacent property owners. But with your support, we’re confident we can bring this project to life and light up the boulevard for years to come.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move toward implementation. In the meantime, thank you for being part of a community that believes in building safer, stronger, and more beautiful streets together.
Warmly,
